Alex from Go Skate Skateboard Shop in Deltona hosted a contest at the Deltona skate park in Deltona FL on Sunday September 28th. Twenty-three local skaters battled for prizes in four age divisions: 9 and under, 10-12, 13-16, and 17 and up.
It was a day of local fun. This contest reminded me of the way it was in the 1980’s: low budget, no money, few prizes, but a whole lot of heart, soul and family support for the skaters of Deltona. Everyone cheered as Christian Nolette and Victor Stephens went head to head in the 9 and under division. The groms are by far the most enjoyable division. These guys are the definitely the future of skateboarding!
Standouts in the 10-12 division were Giovanni Gonzales, James Lester, Bradley Mellen, Abel Alvarenga, Jordan Kucinski, Brendan Bruner, and Sam Normandy. The 13-16 age group participants, Corey Maywald, Kevin Sikes, Bengie Godoy, Ryan Gaylord, Phil Klien, Grady Maguire, Tyler Giles, and Josh Lockwood all were busting some style. In the 17 and up group, the rippers of the day were Angel Cosispoti, Philip Ehrecke, Nicky Verdisco, Billy Rivera, Alex Musa, and Tosh Esposito.
